Meet Yumiko

Yumiko describes being very troubled on the inside. She thought she was worthless, she felt very alone and hopeless, and she had suicidal thoughts. Yumiko decided to try going to church. At first, she found it hard to hear that God loved her. Yumiko describes encountering Jesus and learning how He bore her sins and pain. She has found true hope and joy in Him.

Meet Sam

In this interview, Sam shares that she didn’t grow up in a Christian home. Her parents divorced when she was 8 and that left her very hurt. She found herself curious about a God she never knew. She started learning a lot about Jesus and spent time around Christians. When she finished high school, Sam worked abroad and put God out of her mind. At the same time, she describes feeling very unhappy, knowing she was living a life not pleasing to God. When she returned to Australia Sam joined a church and quickly discovered the acceptance Jesus has for sinners. Sam understood Jesus died for her. She describes the unshakeable joy and contentment she has in her life knowing Jesus and knowing she has eternal life.

Meet Lily

Meet Lily. Lily describes a very traumatic childhood and her strained relationship with her alcoholic and abusive father. Lily talks about her deep emotional pain and years of hiding what occurred in her home growing up. She led a party lifestyle at college and took drugs. Lily also tried to commit suicide because of her unhappiness and hopelessness. Lily felt anger toward God. God did not let go of Lily, and through the influence of her Christian boyfriend and time spent studying the Bible – God brought Lily to an understanding of who He was, and of His love for her. Lily understood she was a sinner in need of Jesus’ saving work and she trusted in Him.

There she heard the gospel and believed she could be forgiven and washed clean. She accepted Christ that day. Laura talks about how Christ has healed her pain and mended her relationships with her daughters. She is now married to her friend and she has had the opportunity to help young women who have experienced the same things as she did.

Meet Jennifer

Jennifer started life as a God-hater. She was sexually molested by someone in her church growing up, and she resented God because of her parents jokes that she was supposed to be a boy and God had made a mistake. In her emotional pain, Jennifer turned to drugs and ended up living life on the streets. She was arrested for drug possession and robbery. She went to prison aged 22. Jennifer says prison was the best thing that ever happened to her because she found Jesus Christ there and He freed her from her bondage to sin. Jennifer describes the awesome ways God has changed her thinking and her ways. She is now very active in ministry life.

(Jennifer’s story is presented in the first 20 minutes of the video. Her story is part of a conference presentation including other women who received Christ in prison).

Ken describes how accepting Christ as his Savior radically changed his outlook on white people. He understood Christ died for every person of every color. Ken became the pastor of a church with a predominantly white membership, and he also married a white woman of German descent.

She wondered if Jesus could be God, especially as there were other gods worshipped in Japan. Nevertheless, she went to church, sang gospel songs and placed her faith in Jesus.
